Important Information

About the New Website

The new website is up and running. Once you are used to it, it should simplify the administration of Matches and Competitions. That said, we are still getting used to it, so if there are any boo-boos, please bare with us. If you have difficulty with entering competitions or matches, please contact Joe, and he will sort it out.

There are two sections to the website; the front page is open to the public. Sensitive information, match and competition entry,  and members-only notices require you to login into the site.  You will also see some advanced features; for example, under My Golf>Messages, you can privately message a fellow SGC Member.

Entering Competitions

Competitions can be accessed via Competitions>Upcoming. This will show all of our internal fixtures for the year. You will see "Signup Not Yet Open" until the 1st of January 2023. This will change to "ONLINE SIGNUP" click on the box and follow the instructions. For pairs competitions, it will ask you to enter the Member's Surname. This will highlight any member with the same surname, select the one you want and proceed accordingly. An email will be sent to confirm entry.  Important, you can select your tee time; whilst we will do everything we can to honour your selection, some course and operational requirements mean your tee time may move.

Entering Matches

Matches can be accessed via Competitions>Matches. Important, you will see a list of upcoming matches. To apply for a match, you will need to join a squad, Select "View all squads">then select "Join" to join any of the squads you wish to play for. There are three; the Diamond Jubilee is a one-off tri-county match at Seaford. The Sussex Team is for all intercounty matches, and the Tour will let you apply to join the tour. Once you have joined a Squad, return to the fixture list and set your availability. You can go back in and change this at any time. On the fixture list, clicking on the date brings up information about the match. Set Availability shows us you can play.

Fixtures and Matches

Our fixtures and matches are open to all members of Sussex Golf Captains. Rest assured that golfing ability is not a necessary attribute. All of our events are meant to be friendly affairs, played on good courses with a decent meal and great company. We aim to give as many of our members an opportunity to play as possible.

Matches are played home and away. A  Sussex Golf Club branded shirt and sweater are required. Normally we meet an hour before the first tee, for sandwiches and chips. Following the match, there will be a two-course dinner. An SGC Badged blazer or Club Jacket is required.

Fixtures are either rolling start or shotgun and are followed by a two-course lunch or dinner. Again members and their guests are expected to change for dinner.

Clothing and Merchandise

Clothing can use the online order form to order clothing and merchandise. You will receive an email for payment. Once we receive your order, we will issue an invoice with payment instructions. Please note that if delivery is required, there will be an additional charge.
