How to enter matches

Here is a refresher on how to enter matches, and update your availability for this year's fun and games.

Step 1

In order to enter matches online, you will need to join the Sussex Squad. You can do this by selecting Competitions from the Top Menu. This will produce a drop down menu, select Matches.

Step 2

This will take you to the Upcoming Matches page. Click on 'View all squads'.

Step 3

Select Sussex Team

Now you are in the squad.

Step 4

Simply choose the matches you would like to be considered for by using 'Set Availability', for each match. The team is chosen from all those who applied for that game. We try to get everyone playing.

Step 5

You can mark yourself as Available, Maybe Available and Definitely Not. The Maybe function is useful when we are looking for reserves.

Step 6

Once you have completed this, the Upcoming Matches page will show your status for each game.

If you click on the little calendar icon next to your availability it will put the fixture in your Google or Outlook calendar, complete with all of the details.

Notes

You can go into IG at any time and amend your availability.

The team will be selected approximately four weeks before the match date. You will get an email with an auto reply link telling you you've been selected.

Look out for some of the away matches where we have suggested a local hotel for those wanting to stay over and 'make a night of it'.

If there is a match you are particularly keen on, let Joe, Nigel or Ian know and we will see if we can accommodate you.

For home matches, we try to avoid selecting players from the host club, this gives Sussex an unfair advantage. The obvious exception is the current club Captain, who is always invited as our guest.

A Sussex Golf Captains tee shirt is mandatory for matches, preferably with a matching jumper or slip over. They can be ordered through the website.

Match fees are £45, home and away. They usually include a light lunch at 12.00, with a 1 pm first tee. A two course dinner follows the golf. A Sussex Golf Captains Blazer and tie or a Captains Jacket are required.
