Derek Ellis

Unfortunately, we start the year with some sad news.

Derek Ellis has passed away at the age of 93. Although he has not been active in recent years, he was an enthusiastic supporter of Sussex Golf Captains. 

Derek was the Captain of Haywards Heath in 1979. He subsequently joined Sussex Golf Captains, and in 1988 he became our Captain, and five years later, President. Many of our older members will have fond memories of him.

When his Captain's year finished, the Committee volunteered Derek to author the history of Sussex Golf Captains. You can download it, here; The History of Sussex Golf Captains
