Coronavirus Update

Tuesday, 17 March 2020

The committee are concerned with the outbreak of COVID-19 and having monitored the situation for some time and with the recent advice from the government to avoid social gatherings have taken the decision to cancel all events in April.  This includes The Spring Meeting, Spring Mixed and the matches (mini tour) against Devon & Cornwall.

The well-being of our members is our absolute priority and it would be fair to say that many of our members are over 65 and many fall into the higher risk category if they contracted the Coronavirus.

We will be monitoring the situation as the epidemic unfolds and will keep you up-to-date on any further postponements or cancellations. With the present guidelines it is looking likely that fixtures and matches in May will also be affected.

This decision does not come lightly as we are committed to providing our members golf days and matches for your enjoyment.  However, in the 56 years since our formation nothing like this has ever been experienced.

With regard to the Annual General Meeting.  At the time of writing the committee are considering an ‘online’ meeting with reports being emailed to members along with a voting form to elect new officers.  Unfortunately for the incoming Captain, Keith Talbot the welcoming normally received at such meetings will be somewhat muted.

For those who have entered the Spring Meeting and Spring Mixed you have two options regarding your entry fees.

A) A full credit online on receipt of your bank account details

B) The amount kept on file as a credit against future matches or fixtures

Please indicate which option you would prefer.

 Thank you for your understanding.

Best wishes to you and your families – but most importantly keep well.
